Caissly is written and edited by people, and every address on this page reaches one. There is no ticketing system, no chatbot, and no contact form that quietly drops what you send.
Corrections
This is the address that matters most to us. Caissly publishes several thousand pages of chess history, and history is exactly the kind of material that accumulates small errors: a transposed move number, a misattributed game, a tournament date off by a day, a player's title awarded in the wrong year. If you have found one, tell us — a URL and a sentence is enough, and a source is welcome but not required.
The terms of use put it plainly: we do not knowingly publish fabricated quotes, attributions or game citations, and where you find a factual error with a source, we correct it.
Editorial
Commissioning, pitches, questions about how a piece was researched, and requests to cover a tournament or a player we have missed. If you are a tournament organiser with results or a press contact, this is the right address.
Permissions and citation
What you may do with the material is set out in the terms of use, and this page does not vary them: you may read, link to, share and quote our articles with attribution, and republishing substantial portions needs written permission. Write to the address above and ask.
The underlying chess data is a different matter and is not ours to
license: opening classifications and move orders come from the open
Lichess chess-openings dataset, and master-game statistics
come from the Lichess Masters Database, under their terms.
When citing a page, use its canonical URL and the date you consulted it. Pages are revised as the record improves, and we would rather you cite a version than a moving target.
Machine access
Crawling and reading are open: robots.txt allows every crawler we know of, llms.txt describes the structure of the site and when it is worth consulting, the sitemap lists every address we publish, and the feed carries new work.
Bulk use is a separate question. The terms of use require explicit written permission before scraping the site for bulk training data, and that condition stands regardless of what robots.txt allows a crawler to fetch. If you want material at that scale, or in a form the static files do not provide, write and ask.
Privacy and legal
Data questions, requests under GDPR or equivalent, and takedown notices. Caissly runs no user accounts, sets no tracking cookies and builds no profile of its readers, so most such requests resolve quickly — the full account is on the privacy page, and the terms of use are here.
What we cannot help with
We do not analyse your games, recover accounts on other chess sites, or arbitrate disputes from games played elsewhere — Caissly is a publication, not a playing platform. For rules disputes in a rated event, your arbiter and the FIDE Laws of Chess are the authority; our rules pages summarise them but do not replace them.
